seen FNU in RFE can i change it before visa issuance

we just came to know when we receaved RFE from nvc ,that FNU is written before names.i came to know that having FNU in visa is a very big problem in us.can i correct the names in passport before visa issuance.if i can correct it in the passport,is this possible that nvc can update the corrected names in their system.what can i do in this situation

FNU means " Field Not Used". For Example if you don't have a middle name, INS/NVC is going to add FNU is the box. So You don't have to worry about anything.

is this possible if a case is under process at nvc and in between we can add surname in the passport and then request nvc to update the name in their system so that FNU will not be added before our name

FNU will NOT be added to you name on your VISA or green card. It is only in the papers meaning this box is empty.
