Questions About I-130 and Affidavit of support

Hello,

I currently reside in the US as an international student. Me and my wife(US citizen) got married couple months ago, we chose doing the process without a lawyer with one step(filling all forms at same time), but we faced the problem of she falling short behind the 125% above poverty line requirement for 2 households. And, I found out that I can use assets, so am waiting for money to be transferred from my home country to fulfill the requirement. Is it possible for my wife to file I-130 and then getting it approved before filling the I-864 and I-485(2 step process)? Or is I-846 a requirement for the approval of I-130?

From readings I have done, I got the impression that I-864 is filed with I-485, but am not sure.

That's a part of the package and needs to be approved by them. If you folks have any family members or friends willing to file and I-864, go for it.
