Green card through marrige

Hello, I would like your advice on my status:
> Currently on F1 visa
> 4 months left on H1B (worked for >5 1/2 years in the US)
> My F1 visa expires end of May 2012

My fiance (a US citizen) and I have decided to get married in June this year. Could you let me know what sort of issues I might run into, considering I will be out of status for a few weeks. Also, is it advisable to get married earlier (i.e. before my visa expires) so I can start processing my green card paper work?

It is preferrable to get married and have the papers filed before you go out of status.
