Question on forms I-130/I-485. Please help
Hi,
I am a adult US Citizen sponsoring my mother for permanent residency. I was going through the forms and had a few questions that I couldn't find answers to, in the USCIS instructions or by googling. Would be much obliged if someone in these forums could help answer these.
Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative
----------------------------------------
* Item C2 : Since my mother is here in the US and I am filing concurrently with I-485, should I put her address as my address here in the US or should I put her native country address? In general, for all the forms should her address be listed as my address here or her native country address?
* Birth Certificate to prove relationship of the petitioner to applicant has my mother's name slightly misspelled (It's the phonetic spelling versus the actual spelling). Would a notarized name affidavit suffice to indicate the two names refer to the same person?
Form I-864 Affidavit of Support
-----------------------------------------
I resigned from my job about 3 years ago when I had kids and since then I have been a housewife. I am indicating $0.00 as my annual income and am filing a Form I-864A (Contract between Sponsor and Household Member), signed by my husband. In Form I-864 Part 6. Item 22, the following information is requested regarding the Sponsor's income and employment:
22. I am currently
a. Employed as a/an ______
b. Self-employed as a/an ____________
c. Retired from ____________ since ___________
d. Unemployed since _____________________
As a housewife who left her job some years ago, I am confused whether I should indicate "Retired" or "Unemployed"?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
SR
