Hello, I have a unique situation to which I would like help with.
I am a Canadian living abroad in the Netherlands (still possessing my Canadian citizenship) wishing to make my move to the US and to do this by having one of my family members sponsor me in, if I am correct I would be eligible under two categories.
F1 - My father has been married to my American stepmother since before my 18th birthday, therefore if I read up correctly she could sponsor me in as her stepson.
F2B - My father is currently in possession of his green card and is a permanent resident who I believe he has told me he is eligible for US citizenship, I could have him to be the one to sponsor me in.
I am over 21 years old therefore the immediate family preference unfortunately will not apply, so I understand there is some wait times to be expected, my first question is if I filed within the next month or so how long will it take? I am quite confused by the Visa Bulletin and looking back into the history of the dates I find some categories have come almost current then they seem to revert back to an earlier date.
Secondly, if I am correct that I am eligible under both categories which would be the better idea to file under, F1 or F2B?
Thirdly, if I decide after filing my application I wish to return to Canada would this have an affect on my application? (Still intent on relocating to the states once my application is accepted).
Thank you for your assistance, I really hope I don't have to wait 10 years to join my family in the states but all these dates are quite confusing.
