I am an Irish citizen with an US citizen mother. I lived in the states for 2 years when I was a child, during which period I held a green card. I relocated to Ireland as a child and I have lived there since.
Unfortunately, my mother did not live in the US for long enough to entitle me to US citizenship.
Also, I am over 21 and so placed in preference category 1 in terms of green card eligibility.
I have missed the deadline for a 12 month graduate working visa by one month.
I have recently passed the New York bar, yet I am quite screwed - as far as I can tell, my only way options are sponsorship - H-1B, or applying by means of I-130 and waiting years upon years for a GC visa.
Can anyone help? Does my previous green card help at all?
Thank you in advance.
