  • USC to marry Canadian PR with US visitor visa

    Here's the scenario,

Guy: Canadian PR, Indian citizen & has us visa
    Girl: us citizen

Should we get married (civil ceremony) in US?
He can come to US on his visitor visa, we can get married and he would head back to Canada to continue his work - meanwhile I would immigration docs and get things processed for him to come back with a green card. How viable is this option? Will his intent be questioned if we get married on visitor visa in USA?

The traditional wedding ceremony will be in India after 3 of months. So we would have all they need during the visa interview process.

Is it more viable to just get civil marriage certificate from India? Not sure what will change.

    Thank you for your help!

Seems like he's not in a hurry to live in the US since he has a job in Canada. So why not marry now (in India or Canada), then file the petition? Max wait is 1 year for him to get the GC.

That would be fine, we are not in a hurry at all as such. The only thing is that he cannot travel to USA while his petition is in processing (even though he will have a Visitor Visa). That means I will have to go visit him, will Canada have any problem if I go to visit? I have absolutely no plans of immigrating to Canada.

        Thanks much!

I think you'll have no problem with visiting in Canada

            Awesome! Thanks MTouch! .
Also, he is going to file for his Canadian citizenship (might as well get it while he can, he is a pr now). You think we'll have any problems if both his GC and Canadian citizenship processes are running simultaneously?

            Thanks again!
