Hi All,
We received Request for Initial Evidence (RIE) for my Dad's I-485 Application. USCIS has requested for a Birth Certificate (that we don't have) but we have a non Availability Certificate (that was mailed along with the application) and 10th Standard Markscard that has my father's date of Birth and his fathers name. But it looks like they want affidavit of support as well from elders who can vouch that my father was born on such date.
I have two questions here.
1. My father is the eldest of the family and there are NO living relatives/friends who can provide this affidavit. Will other supporting docs like my Dad's passport and Voting Card, etc be sufficient. We had not sent his passport copies with the original application
2. My father is on Visitor Visa and the Duration of Stay is upto March 12, 2012. Given that we have received only an RIE and not an RFE, Can he stay until a decision is made on his application or will he have to go back if we are unable to respond to the RIE.
Can someone please help by responding? Appreciate any help that can be provided here.
