Hello,
I am a US citizen for past 3+ years with good financial standing. My father is now old (85 yrs) and after my mother’s death is finding very difficult to live in India by himself. As the only son, it’s creating a lot of stress in my life as I am always worried about him. He is hearing impaired due to old age.
I was doing research on Immihelp (which by the way has helped me all the way from my H1 days in 1997 to my US citizenship in 2009 – what a great resource. Thank you).
I couldn’t find much guidance on extreme hardship waiver based processing for green card. I read a PDF from New Delhi consulate and I believe my father fits the first category of health.
I was hoping the senior and knowledgeable members could guide me on following.
1) Is it really a faster process?
2) I am not clear if DCF (direct consular processing) is allowed at Mumbai consulate – could anyone please confirm? If it is allowed, is that the faster way?
3) Is it faster AND easier to get my father to USA on visitor’s visa and then apply for his green card? Is it possible that the immigration officer may deny his visitor visa application because s/he suspects that my father will apply for GC?
4) Irrespective of visa type, can I request USISC to allow me to be present at the time of his interview? I saw some references that it may be allowed but don’t know correct process.
Please help… your guidance is greatly appreciated as always…
