GC - how much should we wait before applying

I have heard from couple of people that we should wait 4-6 weeks after parents get to US before we apply for GC otherwise we can run into issues.

Is that true?

No issue. Your parents can apply for you as soon as they get the GC. But how did they obtain the GC ? If you're a dependent why were you not included in your parents' petition ?

Actually we (citizen children) are applying for parents.

Your parents don't have to be in the US for you to petition them. You should do it as soon as possible. It would be more of an issue if they apply for visitor visa with the intention of migrating.
