US visa re-entry and concerns

Hi there,

I need some information on the following matters.My family recently received the US immigrant visa.They plan to enter the US in June.But as my parents are still working in the Gulf, they want to go back for resuming work.In this case- what are the procedure they need to complete before they leave and for hw long can they be out before they re-enter?
The next concern is that, my sister is currently pursuing her higher education in India and has few more years to go, before she completes.So, in this case can she get an extension before she renters again and what are the procedures/ forms for that?Hw long does she have to be here in the US before she exits?
Please kindly give some information on these matters or where i can look into

They first have to enter the US. Then from there apply for re-entry permit. This will give them 2 years permission to stay out of the US. But they have to enter the US again before the 2 years expiry. Read more on re-entry permit for details.
