Birth certificate for Immigrant visa.

Hi,

This is for my friend who is in India, in the process of coming to US with immigrant visa. All her documents are ready except her birth certificate. Her date of borth in the passport,all school certificates and the baptism certificate are the same ,but her DOB in the birth certificate from Registrar's office is little different from all the other documents. That was a mistake happend many years ago and registrar's office is not willing to change eventhough the date of birth in all the other documents are the true one. And US also required the birth certificate from the Registar's office. How can she solve this problem?? Please help. She is so disappointed.

If possible, a birth certificate with errors should be corrected by the local government office that issued it. If this is not possible, an applicant with problems on a birth certificate, such as an incomplete, missing, or misspelled name; the wrong birth date; or registration more than a year after the birth, should obtain two affidavits of birth from persons who were present at the time of the individual's birth and who were at least ten years old at the time of that birth.

Also show secondary evidence like school/college certificates.

If affidavit does not workout, I would suggest to re-register the birth with correct info. This is not possible without paying bribe to the Registrar. In punjab, India the bribe rate for this job is Rs 15,000. (~$300). You will get new birth certificate with correct info within two weeks after paying the money.
