  • Time Outside of US- 2 weeks in US every yr.

    Hi everyone,

What if I have a green card and I have been coming in and out of the U.S. for the past 5 years and each time only staying 2 weeks per year in the U.S. However, I have maintained a part-time job here for the past 5 years and I pay those taxes each year. The same question for my son who also has a green card, but no work. We both have social security numbers too. Can we still apply for US citizenship right now?

    Please help. Thank you.

You are looking at loosing your LPR status since you don't live in US permanently. You live in US but do not work is a different story.......

No you can't, why because apart from you may loose your LPR status you will not meet the naturalization requirements set forth by USCIS.
I advise you take a look at naturalization eligibility sheet and also read the document called M-476
