  • I-864a question

I am the sponser for my wife, a Chinese citizen. We are both in the US now, she is here legally. We need a joint sponser as we presently have meager incomes. My parents are able to sponser us, I just had a question about the I-864a form.

I was planning on using my father as the joint sponser, but all tax returns are filed jointly with he and my mother. Can my father be the additional household member, but I can list their joint income? The form specifically asks for individual income, but since they file jointly, can I list their total AGI?

If the answer is no, then can both my mother and father file an I-864a as household members?

    Any help is appreciated.

Best thing is to just put your mother and father on I-864A as household members rather than undertaking the risk of delay as if you put joint income then NVC could send it back.
