  • Parent Green Card - Shoplifting issue

I am a US citizen and i am planning on applying Green Card for my father who is 62 years old. 3 years back an unfortunate incident happened where a store has called cops for shoplifting though his intention clearly was not it. He was taken to the jail & they have given citation when i arrived there for which i paid about $375 and we left the scene as there was no mandatory court appearance, though you could attend for contest but he was leaving in few days so chose not to plus he was very terrified with the incident. I do not even know what was the actual severity of the issue, though there they said he should be fine. He has come back to US 3 more times in past 3 years & even travelled outside of US once for a trip to South America & came back. Now i do not know what to do as we do not even have the record of that incident/citation with us at this time. do i need to answer yes for the criminal issue on the green card application or should i be answering yes & dont know what need to be done. Please help me with your inputs & information.

    Thanks very much in advance.
