  • Postponing green card interview

    Hello,

I applied for my Mom's green card on 22nd May. She received the AP on 8/13. She needs to go to India to resolve her affairs, visit drs, etc. She has already postponed her departure once. I have a few questions:

    1. Her case is transferred to the CSC. So, how long should it be before she gets an interview date?
    2. If they are going to ask for a RFE, should it have come by now? Or is it possible to get an RFE yet?
    3. Is an interview required? Or is it possible she could get lucky and not need an interview?
    4. If she is in India when the letter for interview arrives,
    a) can I postpone it?
    b) What are the drawbacks to postponing?
    c) How far can I postpone it - two months/six months?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

It is better not to re schedule the interview date as it will unnecessarily drag the process. Since the case has moved to CSC, you can call the USCIS at 1-800-37-5283 and get things clarified. Good Luck!
