    Receipt Notice

You should have received your I-140 Receipt Notice with a unique number assigned to your case when your I-140 was filed. You can check the status with this receipt number on USCIS web site online.
Can you tell when was your I-140 filed and in which category, EB2 or EB3?

    Good Luck

        Next step

        Hello Agi

Normally, you should have your 1-140 approval notice in an category- EB1/2/3. The next step will be the AOS through I-485 which your attorney should recommend and work on. And it does not matter whether you have the I-140 approval notice at hand for this next step filing. We are permitted to proceed with this next phase as long as your I-140 is filed and awaiting approval. Although you should still call customer service on the USCIS web site and provide them your I-140 unique receipt number for the status, or tell your employer/lawyer to do that on your behalf if you cannot.

        Good Luck

          Next step

Just tell your employer/lawyer to file for I-485 as long as your I-140 is approved. The employer can always give you the I-140 receipt number that you can go online and check the I-140 status but you don't have to do this if your employer has the approval notice with him. But yes, Adjustment of Status -AOS should be the next step through I-485.

Hope this clarifies your doubts here.:

              Visa

              Agi

The next step will be filing of I-485 for Adjustment of Status (AOS) to obtain permanent resident visa - Green Card. The processing time after filing varies from one Service Center to another and where your case goes to. Generally speaking it takes about 6- 12 months but some cases get approved sooner.

              Good Luck

                  Hi,

It is better that you consult a lawyer. I think only a lawyer can answer the question properly. I think yours is a serious case and consult a lawyer.
