When to file I485 after approved I140

Hello,

I have received I140 petiton approval. It shows my priority date as Sept'08. In the 'Beneficiary' column just above my name there is an 'A' number (Axxx xxx xxx).
Two questions:
1. Can I file I485 + EAD right now or do I have to wait for my 'priority date' to become current?
2. Is this 'A' number an 'Immigration Visa Number' ?

I am confused right now about this.

2. It means Alien number.

How would I know when the PD gets current? What should I watch out for to know it?
