Application for H4 Visa. Inside or Outside of USA, which might be quicker?

Hi ladies and gents. I am hoping I could get some advice on my situation. I am currently a permanent resident in Canada. My partner is working on an H1B visa in the US and we are wanting to get married. Consequently I would apply for an H4 visa. My question is this, should I apply from within the US, provided I will be granted a stay on my visitors visa. Or should I apply at one of the US Consulates here in Canada? Which would be a quicker process? Any advice and pointers on this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

Applying for H4 Visa and traveling to US directly in H4 status is a more straightforward process.

Change of status from Visitor status is not recommended. Moreover, you will need to do this every time you leave the US and want to return in H4 status.
