getting married while GC is pending- 28 years old

Hey!

So im in a rather weird situation. My father's sister who is a US citizen filed for our family's GC in 2001 ( when i was 16)...and we got word sometime in 2010 that I have been shortlisted to receive the GC along with the family. I was 25 at the time. Documents have been requested, submitted..and now we are line to receive our priority date through consular processing.

Meanwhile, I have met someone..and want to get married. He is a student pursuing his PhD in the US. I am quite confused on how to handle this situation. Honestly, my biggest prioroty is to be with my husband-to-be..GC or not. We have been dating for 2 years, and have been miserably apart.

First make sure that you are still eligible to receive your green card through your father's sister or not. Look at /usa-immigrant-visa-process/cspa-calculator/ to determine that.

Second, even if you are eligible otherwise, if you get married, you will not be eligible any longer. And definitely, your husband will not get green card along with it.

You have a better chance to go to the US, if you get married to him and go to the USA on dependent visa.
