Family in India Employer approved Green Card Process - Please suggest

Hi

I am on L1A visa expired on 03 Apr 2013 and I94 is active till Dec 2015.

My Family is in India with expired VISA and My employer approved GC processing.

1. Do I need to file extension before I apply GC so that my family can travel
2. In case Extension not filed what are options.. Do I need to wait until I485 to bring them here.

Please advise
