My mom sponsored my brother on a green card and he is 20 years and 9 months old. He had his interview a couple of days ago and they denied him visa because the Consular Officer thought that he would need medical attention as soon as he gets here.

He has a brittle bone disorder and used to have regular fractures when he was a child but in this condition bones keep getting stronger and they don't break so easily and he hasn't had a fracture in many years now. However, unfortunately the paperwork that we gave to the medical examiner was from the time he was last treated almost 10-12 years ago and at that time his bones were weaker. I believe the examiner just put the same info in the medical report which is why they denied him visa. Now they want us to provide them with a letter showing the intent and ability to support his medical treatment.

Can you please let me know what would be our best option? since affordable health care law has passed he will be able to get insurance after he gets here and he won't need immediate medical attention as the CO thought. since he is going to be turning 21 soon we need to get this sorted out ASAP. Would it be better for us to try to prove to them that he won't need medical attention with a letter from a specialist or should we try to provide them with a letter that he'll get obamacare and i'll support him. I can also get a travel insurance to address their concern for immediate medical attention since i guess i can't buy permanent medical insurance without any US documents. and also what can we do to make sure his case is expedited and he gets the visa before he turns 21? Please let me know. Thank you so much.
