Job offer in hande, fist able to start May 2015?

Hi, i am an Software Engineer, with as Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering, and I am in contact with a company is Los Angeles that is willing to hire me. But the problem is that out from what we can see will i first be able to start working there in May 2015, if i apply for a H1b today.
Is this correct, and are there really no other options?
