  • Approved Greencard for Canadian PR

Any thoughts: My Canadian PR card arrived last May and a week ago US National Visa Center just approved my mother's immigrant petition for me and has set an interview appointment next month? Any thoughts on this?
    1. Should I pursue the US immigration path, considering all the efforts and time, or is the US option worth it?
    2. If I did that, should I be worried jeopardizing my Canadian status?
    3. How will I then be able to satisfy the residency requirement of either country when I decide to go for the US path as well?

    Thanks a lot friends.

This is the kind of question that only you can answer.

You have to decide if you want to immigrate to the U.S. or not. You can't have it both ways for more than a year before you will have to abandon one or the other.

Your final decision depends on what you want and what you can handle. If you are living in the "far north" Yukon area, you might be wise to take the opportunity to relocate to California or Florida. If you are in BC or Toronto, and make decent money and have a career ahead of you, staying in Canada might be better.

On the other hand, if you need to be close to mother.....then maybe that's where you should be.

For Canadians and other who immigrated to Canada, the U.S. always seems attractive. I know lots of Filipinos who landed in Canada with medical skill visas, stayed a few years, then moved on down to the U.S. But many of their relatives rooted in Canada and stayed there and will never leave.

This often boils down to your career, a spouse and any children. If you have none of these, maybe you're in the wrong country.

Exactly it all depend on what you want to do... I have lived in Canada long enough to make the move out of here, honestly speaking US living is better then Canadian ( Many factor involved) its odd coming out from a canadian but that's the cold harsh truth.

Good luck...Move to US as probability of success in life is more.
