processing time at USCIS

Hi All,

just called USCIS to ask about the status of my case (we submitted it 3 months ago) and the woman working there told me that it could be up to another 4-5 months at USCIS. This cannot be true, can it? Based on the online research I've done and looking at USCIS processing times, it seems 5 months is more the norm, not 8-9?! Some input would be greatly appreciated as this is kind of freaking me out.

Rayb, it would be great to hear from you. I remember you responded to a previous post saying that the ENTIRE petition/visa process takes roughly 8-11 months, so surely it cannot be true that it would take 8-9 months at USCIS alone?

To get through USCIS, "Immediate Priority" petitions are averaging 3-6 months, some longer, some even faster.

Hi, we submitted our I-130 in august and havent heard anything back yet.

Did you get a Receipt Notice of Action?

If not, there is a problem with your address or the USCIS office to which you mailed the petition package.

Oh yeah sorry of course we have. Just letting the poster know our august application hasn't even been processed yet. They have received it as of Aug 25 so its been four months exactly now. Hoping it'll be only one more month!

This seems to be a common misunderstanding about the processing. The poster says "nothing" has been heard about a submitted petition package. But after a couple of messages are exchanged, we get an admission that a Receipt Notice of Action was received , and that a couple of months has since passed with no additional notices.

Unless elapsed time since the Receipt Notice arrived has gone well beyond normal processing timeframes, it's probably good news that nothing more has been received yet, since new evidence requests are the notices most commonly received during the immediate months after the Receipt has shown up.

Yes, we received an initial receipt a few days after we submitted i-130 in August. Very frustrating to read (but lucky for them) that there are other couples posting on here that their petition was accepted before ours, even though they submitted after we did, and it was at the same office. Makes me think that the office is unorganized or that it is more of a "luck" thing than a "first come first serve" basis.

Theres people that sent packages in august whose petitions have been accepted already?! Yes frustrating for sure. Which office is yours with? Ours is in Texas.

Yes we are at Texas service center. I've read some posts on this by people who have had there's approved by USCIS in less time. Very frustrating indeed. We are hoping we hear something soon.

If your I-130 was received early in September, you are due for an approval completion by USCIS anytime, but could be up to two months more.

Also, I just started a new job... When it comes time to fill out the i864, should I still include a co sponsor? Since I would obviously not have a tax return yet and only a few months of pay stubs
