I don't think you can be assured of the Green Card delivery address being changed by doing the online address change, because your Green Card fee payment may not be considered an actual immigrant procedure (petition-based) since you don't have a standard receipt number (I could be wrong). So you might be better off calling the 800 Help number at: 1-800-375-5283
or getting an in-person appointment with INFOPASS, at: https://infopass.uscis.gov/

      address changed

sir my wife just told me she that she has updated the address through online system. She got the confirmation number as well instantly. So does she need to send AR-11 by post.
she filed my petition I-130 last week. Should she file Ar-11 separately for updating the address in I-130 form .

You should wait until you have the receipt number for the I-130 before updating the address online.

          I-130 Receipt Received

          Hi Ray B.

Hope your are well. My I-130 receipt I-797C notice of Action has been received and carrying my case number , preference classification and priority dates.

Can you please please let me know what will be the next stage after receiving I-797C. I read on the forum that my I-130 petition is till not approved yet despite of receiving I-797C.

My preference classification is 203 A2A INA spouse of LPR. What does that mean?

          Kind Regards

Your I-130 is not approved, only "received" by USCIS. The annotation of "...spouse of LPR" means that your petitioner is on record as being a Green Card holder, not a US. citizen. You cannot adjust your status (if in the U.S.) until your Priority Dae is current

Just starting out.. Some questions about my situation

              Hi everyone,

I'm new here and my fiancee and I are just beginning this process, and we'd both really appreciate some advice.

We currently live in China. I am an English Teacher here, and an American citizen (also with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK). My fiancee is Chinese. We would like to move to the USA together, and we've spent a good deal of time trying to understand our different options, and we've downloaded all the forms we might need to complete. These are our 'starting out' questions:

              (1) I read above that the sponsor has to have $60,000+ in order to bring someone to the USA - is this correct? I don't have that kind of money, and I wonder whether I understand that correctly. Is there a financial threshold to meet?

              (2) What is the quicker option for us: to get married in China and apply with a spouse visa, or to apply with the K-3 to get married when we both move to the USA?

              (3) Although I'm a US citizen, I haven't lived there for about twelve years. I haven't been paying taxes because I haven't been working there. Will this affect the application at all?

              (4) What time frame are we looking at? I've read in some places that it can be done in 3-6 months, but in other places more than a year. We want to plan for it by telling our employers how long we plan on staying in China for, but it's difficult to do so with all of this mixed information.

              (5) Can we send a completed form via email? The postal service may not be very reliable to get our form from China to the destination in the USA.

              (6) Finally (for now), just a question about the address on the form - we live in China, so do we write our address in Chinese, or will they want us to translate the Chinese address into pinyin?

Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to go over these questions. I do apologize if these questions sound too basic and 'beginner level' to be submitted in this part of the forum. We've tried reading through all of the different information about the process, and we keep getting different answers, and our heads are hurting trying to figure it all out without some direct responses.

                Canada immigration

                Hi Ray B

My wife applied her immigration in Canada through Federal skilled worker program.I m her dependent. We got Positive Eligibility Review and our case number. We realized that she didn't disclose my previous name in the immigration application. My name was changed after 10 days of my birth. All my legal and educational documents carrying my new name as mozi from inception. My parents got my new updated birth certificate that is carrying my current name in 2011 from government authority. I have my old birth certificate as well. My wife forgot to disclose my previous name in the immigration application form. My new birth certificate carrying the remarks as 'Changed name'.Please let us know what should we do now. Should we inform about this mistake to CIC or not.

                  GabandDol,

You are reading misleading information ("misinformation") about the visa process. Please see my comments in CAPS below

YOU WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE TO PROVIDE PROOF OF INCOME THAT WILL ANNUALIZE AT ABOUT $20,000 OR BETTER FOR A HOUSEHOLD OF TWO.

                  (2) What is the quicker option for us: to get married in China and apply with a spouse visa, or to apply with the K-3 to get married when we both move to the USA?

THERE IS NO K3 VISA ACTIVELY PROCESSED BY OUR IMMIGRATION AGENCY. YOUR CHOICES ARE A SPOUSAL VISA (CR-1) OR A FIANCEE VISA (K1). THE FIANCEE VISA, K1, IS ABOUT 3 MONTHS FASTER THAN A SPOUSAL VISA.

                  (3) Although I'm a US citizen, I haven't lived there for about twelve years. I haven't been paying taxes because I haven't been working there. Will this affect the application at all?

A U.S. CITIZEN IS REQUIRED TO REPORT WORLDWIDE INCOME WITH INCOME TAX RETURNS, EVEN IF NO TAX PENALTY (DUE TO A FOREIGN INCOME EXEMPTION). YOU SHOULD SUBMIT AT LEAST A 2014 FEDERAL INCOME TAX RETURN. YOU MAY NEED A CO-SPONSOR IN THE U.S. TO PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP PAPERWORK FOR YOUR GAL AT HER INTERVIEW.

                  (4) What time frame are we looking at? I've read in some places that it can be done in 3-6 months, but in other places more than a year. We want to plan for it by telling our employers how long we plan on staying in China for, but it's difficult to do so with all of this mixed information.

DEPENDING ON THE VISA TYPE YOU USE (K1 OR CR1), THE PROCESS WILL TAKE 7-12 MONTHS

                  (5) Can we send a completed form via email? The postal service may not be very reliable to get our form from China to the destination in the USA.

YOU CAN USE EMS (INTERNATIONAL PRIORITY MAIL) OR COURIER SERVICE (FED-EX, DHL, UPS, ETC.) TO SEND YOUR PETITION PAPERWORK TO USCIS.

                  (6) Finally (for now), just a question about the address on the form - we live in China, so do we write our address in Chinese, or will they want us to translate the Chinese address into pinyin?

YOUR ADDRESS, ON IMMIGRATION FORMS, SHOULD BE IN BOTH ROMAN AND CHINESE CHARACTERS, WITH AN ATTACHMENT, AS APPROPRIATE.

Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to go over these questions. I do apologize if these questions sound too basic and 'beginner level' to be submitted in this part of the forum. Doggington your situation is very similar to our own

Thank you Ray B for the detailed response , you have answered the questions I have been concerned about for months

I wonder if either of you may be able to assist with a bit more information.

I am the US citizen living in the UK since 2009, my husband (since 2011) is a British citizen. He is retired and in receipt of a private pension and will soon be eligible for his state pension. I am employed full time and the primary wage earner. We wish to move "back" to the US.

After selling our home here, paying off all of our debt we should have approx $250,000 and his pensions totaling approx $24,000 as an annual income. I am not going to work until after we arrive and only then part time.

Am I correct in understanding I am his sponsor because I am the American and not necessarily financially sponsoring?? Would he need a co-sponsor as well, though we would be financially self-sufficient, and if yes, is it true a co-sponsor may be someone saying they will provide a temporary residence and not necessarily direct financial support??

Also I understand I need to show I am wishing or intended to return to the US. I still own property in the US and will sort some sort of bank account when I travel over again. The concern is my status in the UK will need to be updated in August for me to retain my legal status, employment etc. I am concerned how that will appear if I continue to apply for my IDLR while applying for leave for my husband? It is not possible or practical that I should leave to return to the US on my own due to employment, animals, home , my husband's age and ability to sell our home, wrap everything up and to move .

I have thought it was prudent to file I-130 and then apply for spouse visa…but I wonder if we should apply under a different category, like retired or??

                    Your thoughts are most appreciated!

                    Thank you!

                      I-130 Receipt Received

                      Hi

Hope you are well. My wife my wife filed spouse petition I-130 for me from Texas and she received I-797C NAO1 on 24 March 2015. I checked my status online by entering my receipt number WAC1234567890 on 25 Mach and the status was showing that my case is in process. But today i m entring my case number online and it shows that
At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the NCSC 1 (800) 375-5283 for additional information.

Can u please help me out . i cant understand whats that mean. Why USCIS system is not showing my case status . I m worried.

                        Hi ray b

I'm a us citizen i was born here but i was raised in other country(philippines). I just arrived here in the USA this feb 27 2015. I would like to petition my mother and my father to become permanent resident here. But i have no income yet. I'm thinking of getting a joint sponsor. So before applying the i 130 here are my questions

                        1. I will be filing i130 which is for petitioning for parents are the forms in my list complete or am i missing something?
Form i130 (filled up by me the sponsor)
Form i864 (filled up by my joint sponsor which is my aunt)
                        Original birth certificate
                        Marriage certificate of my parents
                        Form g-1145
Tax declaration copy of my sponsor

                        2. In mailing the documents does it have to be separated to 2 mailing envelope or should i combine it in one envelope?

3.form i864 is for the joint sponsor right? Can my aunt(my father's sister) be my joint sponsor? Do i have to fill up or sign anything on the form i864? Are there any form besides i864 to be filled up by my joint sponsor?

4 is $100,000 income on tax declaration enough to sponsor both of my parents?

                        5. I just arrived here in the united states this feb 27 2015. Can i file a petition for my parents already.? I have no income yet so can i get i joint sponsor if ever?

6 can i go to other country while petitioning is under process?

                        7. Im also planning to file a fiancee visa (not sure though as of the moment) can i get another joint sponsor for her. I was thinking of her aunt as the joint sponsor (not my relative). Is it allowed or possible?

                        Thanks

Doubts about address in form I-130

Hey guys i have a huge doubt, here it goes, i'm filling out the form I-130, so my situation is that i currently have a Pennsylvania driver's license but i reside in NY, so in the first part of the form i don't know if i should put my PA address or the NYC one, my wife also live in NYC with me and that will continue to be her future address as well, she's on an F1 visa. I don't want this to affect the approval of our application. I'd really appreciate the help ...
