  • Administrative processing time

    Hello Dear,
I came to India for consular processing at Chennai consulate and I have done with my IV interview six month ago, I was asked to present additional evidence in connection with my case. Additional items were submitted to the consulate, and I was told your case requires further administrative processing. We will contact you when this process has been completed. When I inquire regarding my case status they replies as your case still under Admin process we will inform you when this process is completed.

If any one kindly let know if possible what is the Administrative Processing? and how long they take more time to complete this Admin Process? it is over 6 month now and please suggest me what to do at this point, because I am still waiting for their call.

Your feed back is highly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Faheem.

        1. They are doing some checking on you, back ground check, criminal check, name check or anything like that.
It also could be just some kind of verification.

There is really no way to know what they are doing specifically for you.

        2. There is no limit.

Visitor Visa - 221(g) Administrative process - missing in the update!!

My Dad just retired as a Professor in BioChemistry. He was given the pink 221(g) form and told to send some more info (All simple questions in an email - which we did the next day), while my mom was issued a 10 year visitor visa.
We have been checking the US Consulate, Chennai site for the updates in the Admin-process list since then. And last week, my dad's series came, but his case number has been bypassed!!! There were only four numbers in that series. What does that mean?

-Does it mean that his email did not reach them (But we got an automated email back as a reply when we sent back the answers in 221g form)?
-OR does it mean they still didn't look at our email?
-OR does it mean that they rejected my dad's visa?

Is there a way we can find out about it? Is it normal for a case number in a series not being updated, but the case numbers higher than our case number can be updated first.

                  All confused here. Any ideas??

                    administrative processing

Yes, this is the most frustrating part, my husband went to interview over six weeks ago, he got a blue slip, in pakistan, and we complied and have a date they received the info requested. My advice, if it has been over three months, write, call bug the hell outta ur congressman in the us. That seems to bring results. The embassy's have NO time frames, so........... they can put you in a basket and u sit for forever............. the us citizen needs to get active an write their congressman in their area......... i have read that is the only thing that brings results.

                        AP after interview

MY wife applied for immigration IV category as a prinsipal applicant. After interview on 20/08/2009the visa officer told us that our case is pu:confusedt under AP. After one and a half month an offical from US embassy called us and instructed us to submit all the passports for stamping of visas. Almost after 2 weeks on 10/10/2009 we were asked to collect the passports from designated courrier. They have sent passports of my spouse and children duly stamped with visas but my passport did not receive till date. when contated the embassy they informed us that case is still pending for AP. I wonder why they collect my passport if my case was pending for AP? Can any one help me out!

im sorry to hear that, my husband and i are going thru the same thing. i was told 2-3 weeks, its now been 3 weeks and the embassy is not answering their phones and its been 5 business days since the last e mail was sent. i dont know why they feel the need to keep us in the dark. we know they are doing things but why not gives us an update?? the anticipation is killing us. its been since march i gave the papers, its been at the american embassy in sri lanka since oct. his interview was nov 16th, they said they need more proof of relationship.. jeez... they want EVERYTHING. so we gave them everything. now nothing. they have visited an aunt and his parents. so why does it take so long? ive looked at every site i have come across looking for answers. in your case, i would be calling often. can u ask a live person what the hold up is? ask to speak to a supv i say. i would if i could reach a live person!! good luck i wish u the best

Apllied for L1B Visa but faced an admin processing

Hi I have applied for L1B Visa for the first time from the Kolkata consulate on 29th of March. Though they have approved my petition document and have given an approval stamp on the same....my passport was returned to me saying that my application requires additional administrative processing and once that is over the consulate would call me to get the passport stamped. On asking they haven't confirmed any timelines and have asked me to keep checking there website. Now I am checking every alternate day for the saame and it shows as pending. Can anybody tell me by when can i expect this to be over? The project for which I was being selected is almost in the verge of going from my hand. The customers haave agreed for end of this month. But if I don't get the visa stamped by then.....i would lose this opportunity. Little worried, tensed, not sure what to do....Can anyone help pls?....atleast share their experiences. Thanks Maarif.

                              Under Administrative Process

We had our interview at the Embassy here in the Philippines last April 19,20011...

My husband is the principal under Employment-Based Immigrant Visa.. Me and my 3yrs. old daughter are attached to his petition/paper, during the interview the consular officer looking for 1-864 from the employer but we were not able to provide one because according to his employer that is highly confidential..

but they do gave my husband an offer letter stating that the position is still available for him... the consular took the letter and his original birth certificate and NBI of me and him thats all they asked...

But our daughter medical result is not yet there according to them from the designated hospital they required St. Luke's.. They already had our medical in hand wherein only a week difference from the time we got the copy of our result from st. Luke's and my daughter result...

We had our medical 2 weeks before our interview and 4days before the interview finished her medical exam due to interval time of vaccination to her St. Luke's said they can send the result of my daughter 1 day before the interview...

After the interview the consul gave us a white slip and he checked the box of medical exam result of my daughter.. he told us earlier that they do need the I-864 from the employer to prove that they are capable to pay my husband but he didn't checked I-864 on the white slip he gave.. but he took our passport and said our case is under administrative process/review..

His parents and brother are already US citizen.. his petition already took almost 8 years before we got our interview... we found out a week after interview from the lawyer that NO NEED for I-864 in Employment-Based Visa it required in Family Based...

They already got my daughter result this time but we haven't heard anything from them yet it's almost a month now after the interview..

Anyone can help us or give us the idea...???

We appreciate your response regarding this matter...

                              Thank You!
