My i-130 was just approved by the uscis. I was planning to get a new passport with my married on it before the process was over so that my green card would have my married name on it. However, it takes about a month to get a passport in canada once the application has been received. Should i bother getting a new passport? And on that end, can i get a new passport in the middle of the process? In canada a brand new passport has to be applied for and issued in order to get the last name changed.
