  • I864 Filing by Joint sponsor

Hello I have a question regarding I864 for joint sponsor

In I864 part4 question no 12. Active Duty in Military Service

The instructions say to be completed by petitioner sponsor only.

What about joint sponsor? Should he left both boxes unchecked or check no if not in military services?

If the joint sponsor submitting a separate I-864 is Active Military, he should leave that question alone.

Thank you so much. (In i864)Just a quick thought If I write N/A in part3 question 2.a then is there any need to write N/A in the reast of the portion like 2.b, 2.c ... etc? Or can I leave the corresponding items blank?

Usually, inputting "N/A" or "None" in a primary field that drives the succeeding fields should allow you to leave those fields blank.

One more thing. My husband (petitioner) is a naturalized US citizen. He has checked Q. 11A (the US citizen box) in Part 4 (Information on the sponsor). Should he provide alien number also or write N/A? I searched google for an answer but they are contradictory. Though my intuition is saying to write N/A still just want to double check. Thanks for taking your time to help me. Really appreciate.

There is no "hard" rule about whether a Naturalization citizen must also include his "A" number there. My advice is to include it, because USCIS has set a precedent for other forms that anyone who formerly had Permanent Resident status continues to be identified by that "A" number on USCIS records (that's why the "A" number is also on the Naturalization Certificate).
