A non citizen petition for his wife.

Dear sir ,
I would like to inform you that on 07th April 2015 I will face my P4 interview and right after I go to usa I would like petition a file for my wife.
So basically I would like to know how long does the processing takes if a non us citizen petition for his wife?
And will it be better for to petition a file for my wife after getting the USA passport?

It is taking about 20 months for a Permanent Resident's spouse to be current for a visa slot.

How much does it take for an us citizen's wife's visa to slot ?

If petitioned by a US. citizen, the spouse's status is "Immediate Priority," but it takes 8-12 months for her Embassy interview to be scheduled.

Please correct me sir if I am wrong, so you meant to say if a legal permanent resident of USA file a petition for his wife then the whole processing from the day of file petition to interview date it takes 20 months , right?

Available visa slots for spouses of Permanent Residents are taking about 20 months to be current, and an additional couple of months might be required before reaching the Embassy interview stage.

What's a visa slot ?

It's a Priority Date which is current and can be processed for an interview. Most non- "Immediate Priority" visas for family members are based on annual quotas which are driven by Priority Dates. The spouse of a Permanent Resident can expect to wait about 20 months before her Priority Date is reachable, i.e., a "visa slot" is available.
