  • Urgent question re I-864 and I-864A...interview next week

I am a US citizen sponsoring my Canadian spouse for US Permanent Residency and we live in India. My spouse has a Consulate interview next week here in the India.

Since I moved with him to India where he is currently working, I do not have an income. Therefore we planned to list his income on the I-864 and I-864A. However, his future salary and pension will continue from the same source as his current income: his Canadian government job. Once he moves to the US, due to early retirement and accumlated vacation/sick time, he will continue to receive his salary for a finite amount of time.

After that, he can demonstrate that he will receive a guaranteed Canadian pension for 30 years of service once he retires after the salary ends.

We have plenty of savings to meet the Poverty guideline. My worry is that they will not accept his Canadian pension/income although he can document everything and demonstrate that the pension is guaranteed. He has worked at this job for over 27 years. I am desperately looking for answers.

    Thank you in advance.
