Hello!
I am hoping someone here can help me with information regarding the I-130 adjustment of status...
My parents sponsored me and my brother for a green card back in 2009. My brother's application was sent in first (his priority date is May 2009) and then mine (priority date August 2009 - 3 months later). My application, however, got approved first in late Jan 2010, and some 20 days later my brother's petition got approved in early February 2010.
More than five years later (two days ago, on 6/29) I received the NVC welcome letter (PAOSF) and instructions on how to proceed with the adjustment of status (yay!).
My brother did not get a welcome letter yet. If I understand the process correctly, my brother's earlier priority date should have landed him the welcome letter FIRST - or does NVC go by approval date when granting resident visas??? I always thought that the priority date is the main indicator as to when one's turn is up for adjustment of status.
On that note, should we expect to see the welcome letter for adjustment of status for my brother as his approval date is within 20 days of my I-130 application?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
