My wife and kids went for their visa interview today in Bangkok Thailand and the dreaded missing doc situation was encountered: Missing police certificate -- because my wife had lived in Australia (NSW).
So now we have to get an Australian Police Certificate.
Problem is, despite me phoning Australia and asking around, I couldn't reach anyone who can give me clear instructions. It's not the accent either -- the person I spoke with just didn't seem knowledgeable -- she gave me a phone number that doesn't work (tried it several times) and information that I already read up on on the website.
From what I gather (and what the Australian lady told me over the phone) my wife needs to apply through the Australian Federal Police (AFP) because she's overseas. However, the website http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/pol...checks#contact seems to indicate that this process is only for Australian residents applying for travel visas overseas. The "100-point-document" also refers to Australian documents. I asked the lady over the phone what proof of residency is needed and she said that my wife's current (Thailand) docs are the ones needed.
Im still skeptical about the whole process.
Has anyone here gotten an Australian Police Certificate whilst overseas? What process did you follow? I would gladly gladly GLADLY appreciate the help. It's just this ONE thing... this ONE thing that's needed!
