  • Filing taxes for the current year before the interview (Cr1)

Our case has just been approved and closed at the National Visa Center. We are waiting for an interview date to be scheduled. Will the Embassy want the current year's taxes? If we did file and brought along the tax documents to the interview and if it were lower than the poverty guidelines (household of 4).. would it affect our chances of being approved at the interview and the issuance of the Visa?..

If you are unable to show up at the interview with 2015 Federal tax return, and the 2014 tax return meets the requirements, coupled with proof of current income annualizizes to meet income requirements, you should be okay. But you may have to provide a credible reason why your 2015 tax return hasn't been completed, but include 2015 income source documents (2015 W2's and 1099 forms, recent check stubs).
