  • Travel whilst awaiting immigration visa

    Hi all,

My girlfriend is Vietnamese, I am British. She is currently in the process of applying to move to the US. Her and her parents are meant to immigrate next year some time when their health certificates are updated and added to their application. All three have passed all the interviews.

She is being asked to travel to the UK on a business trip, however her aunt, who is a citizen in America and part of her family who have been getting her and her parents to move to join them, told her that if she travels to the UK now, her visa application will become invalidated.

To help alleviate her concerns I have spent the whole night look for any evidence this might be true, however I cannot see anything that pertains to her particular situation.

Is this true, or is her aunt just passing miss information / scaremongering. She would be in the UK for the whole of July.

    Thanks for your responses.

    hi

if she is travelling with proper paper work and ll not over stay there shouldn't be any problem. just make sure if in between there is an interview letter she has to be in her home country to collect the necessary documents and to attend the interview.

I don't see there is any problem to travel UK.
She is immigrating to US and she is travelling to UK. Both are different countries with different purposes. Moreover, in case if her interview is not scheduled and she is expecting her interview date during her stay in UK, she can change her interview country(processing country) to UK from Vietnam.
I don't have any evidence to prove this, but for your comfort you can contact US embassy in Vietnam. It is always better to contact through e-mail instead of phone call to get some written document.

      Cheers

Thanks for your answers, really put her mind at ease. She is flying to the US on the 1st of September now, for the green card requirements. Only thing left is to hand in an up to date health certificate for her and her parents between coming back from UK and leaving for the US. Her visa is other wise completely ready to go.

Her aunt was just telling her travelling in this period will invalidate her Visa, which we both thought was insane, but i could not find any solid evidence to show that was false, so again, thanks a lot.
