I recently received a message from the NVC informing me that they reviewed the Affidavit of Support documentation. However, it does not appear that I meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant for this petition. I may have an additional sponsor complete an Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) and provide it to the intending immigrant to submit at their interview. At that time, a consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement.
I suppose the good news is that we are onto the interview stage. However, I believe we meet the financial requirements.
Our household size is 3 persons and therefore we are required to show USD $25,200. The sponsor is domiciled in the USA but currently has no income and therefore we need to show evidence of three times this (not five times as US sponsor is sponsoring spouse?). But we used the intending immigrants assets which exceeds $75,600.00 but does not exceed five times which is $126,000.
Am I correct that we can use assets three times and not five?

Funds required = $25,200
Income - funds required = $25,200
Household size 3 so $25,200 x 3 = $75,600
