Travelling outside USA while CP is in progress

Hi:
I am planning to travel to Canada during Dec '03. I've filed for CP in Montreal, Canada and it is in progress. Do I need any authorization prior to travel to enter USA (similar to AP in case of I-485)?

Anything else to be prepared for on our return, including family.

Nothing like AP needed

Of course, you have to have a visa that allows immigration intent to reenter the US. This means H1 or L1.
