  • Case Complete, BUT.... on hold

So today, after waiting patiently for our application and materials to be processed for about 40 days, I called the NVC and my husband's case is listed as "Case Complete" within the last few days. While this would ordinarily be great news I learned during the call, that because we decided with his ex for his son's to follow us to America later after my husband is settled and therefore we haven't completed their processing requirement, my husband's case will be on hold until EVERYTHING is processed for both of my stepsons. We aren't in a position to complete everything, having only completed the I 130 applications for both boys. We were told by our attorney in writing and verbally for more than 6 months that this desire to have the boys process pause mid-way would have no affect on my husband's wait. Now I am pregnant and our chances of having a baby in the USA are minimal. I followed the NVC employees instructions and submitted a written request to separate or "detach" the cases so my husbands can move ahead this evening. I have no idea how long this will take as I didnt know this would happen. We are crushed. Does anyone know how long it takes them to process a written request to separate cases?? It's so hard to have so many unknowns while expecting. Any information about how people went about detaching their family member's cases would be greatly helpful! Thanks!
