  • Green card application (getting married soon any immediate help gratefully received )

    Good day all,

I am going to get married this month. I am an Indian citizen, currently studying in Germany. My fiance has US citizenship (through naturalization)

I have few questions regarding the application process. I would really appreciate if somebody could help me.

    1) Since I am outside US, Is consular visa processing the only way ?

    2) I have a valid tourist visa. Is it possible to go to US when my green card application is in process?

    3) Since I am currently living in Germany, a) will it anyway affect the application process if i do consular processing from India ?
    b) Is it possible/ a good idea to do consular processing from Germany instead of India ?

    4) Is there some way i can get work permit while the application is in process?

    Thanks in advance!

Your husband must submit form I-130 to apply for your spousal visa. The form will be submitted to USCIS in the U.S. After a few months of processing, the case will be transferred to the National Visa Center (New Hampshire) for an exchange of additional fees and paperwork, followed by transfer to the Embassy with jurisdiction over your current residence location, if you have a valid visa to be in Germany.
