Immigrant Visa Expired Prior to Entering the US

Hello everyone,

This might be asked before but I can't find it in the threads. I'll like to know if I'll have to start afresh if my 6 months immigrant visa expires before entering the US? Will my case be closed or can I apply for another immigrant visa with the same case number?

You should contact the US embassy and request another visa with a new expiration date. Alternatively, enter the US on the existing visa and exit the US to take care of business.
