Sailing permit

Hi,
I am an U.s employee posted in India operations for my company. My I-140 is cleared and am planning to do CP right now since I am not resident in U.s. But I keep doing back and forth between two countries.

There are some tax implications of being an expat to India operations and my company is taking care of that.
Should I still get a sailing permit in this case too? Is it considered a mandatory document? Has anybody being delayed or rejected due to sailing permit? Any thoughts ?? Legal advice??
Right now since I am visiting U.S should I get sailing permit in this trip?

Sailing permit is not for CP and it will probably asked by the airport authorities to ensure your compliance etc., CP process doesn't mandate this.
