Please can someone tell me . which category moving faster?? US citizen petitioned for unmarried children over 21 yrs or A permanent resident petitioned for unmarried children over 21 yrs?? my mom just became citizen. Does she needs to inform to immigration to change category. how can i see which category is current .it is so confusing . my mom applied in april 2012 as A permanent resident petitioned for unmarried children over 21 yrs?? how long it will take to dates come current? i will be really appreciate you answers. F2B (unmarried over-21 child of permanent resident) is slightly faster than F1 (unmarried over-21 child of citizen), for all countries. The difference is small. The category will automatically change when she becomes a citizen, regardless of whether she "informs" them or not (by not informing them, it may cause them to start the process at the wrong time and end up not being able to grant the visa because the date is not current). However, there is a special provision for petitioners who have become citizens to "opt out" of the change from F2B to F1 if they want.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
