  • Urgent question on I-864!

I'm going through CP for both my parents. I paid the I-864 Affidavit of Support bill and they sent an I-864 package for both parents.

However, my father use to live here and has earned enough credits for SSA benefits. He's actually receiving them now in Korea. It says specifically on the immigration website that if the petitioner is earning SSA then the sponsor does not have to provide an I-864 for them. I know I still have to fill one out for my mother though.

I've called the NVC but they don't seem to know what I'm talking about. My question is, do I need to fill out both I-864 packages? It says I need to send it the NVC and they will review and then send out to the embassy.

I'm really confused on this process now...is the embassy in Korea waiting on the NVC to send them the reviewed I-864? Does this mean I HAVE to fill in both now, even though one is unnecessary? The problem is, I qualify for to support a 2 member household according to the poverty guideline...but I don't qualify for a 3 member. I feel stuck, no one there, even the supervisors don't seem to understand.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, there was a $70 bill. I'm aware that some people haven't had to pay this, in my situation I did. It said so right on the letter from the NVC, so I paid it. Now, can anyone answer the questions I posted?
