Questions about AC-140

Guys, please help with the silly questions

1. If someone turns in all the paper needed for AC-140 around end of August, when can he expect an interview scheduled (if not truned down) from Mumbai ? Is the time interval fairly deterministic ?

2. My lawyer says that I need police certificate for India. I was born in India, and was in Thailand for a couple of years. My understanding (after going thru the INS documents) is that one does not need Police certificate for Thailand. I also thought that one does not need for India or US. Is that correct !

Consular Processing

If you are going to a Indian consulate you dont need police certificate from india.
Its specifically mentioned in the Mumbai web site.
Show this to your lawyer. These lawyers are real bad and they dont know much about CP.

Interview will be approx 2.5 months after ACI app is received.

Rule of thumb seems to be:
If your app reaches by the 15th of the month (say Aug 15), then your interview will be scheduled for October, and you'll be on the appts list released by the consulate on Sept 15.
