Is CP and 485 can go togther?

I am thinking for going to CP. but my lawyer said i should go for both. i read somewhere that don't apply both. Is it correct?
Should I go for both? as according to lawyer i will just loose the fees for 485 filing. fees i know are non refundable.

If you do CP through AC I-140, they can do in parallel.

If you file I-824, INS may ask you to cancel either I-485 or I-824.

what if 140 is approved for CP? is it advisable to go for both?

I824 & I485

Lets suppose one decides to do I824 after filing I485, but INS does not suggest that you cancel one or the other and in the process u go from pkt3 to pkt4 and so on. Does this mean I485 is still alive?

Relating to this when INS comes across the I485 file in course of normal processing, let say for fingerprinting, how is it handled?

2. If you get immigrant visa and GC through CP, just inform INS to cancel I-485.
