  • Important BC question pl. reply ASAP

    Hi Administrator/All

I have a question regarding my wife's birthplace in the passport and her BC. Basically the passport was made looking at school leaving certificate. The birthplace in School LC is wrong. Hence the passport also has a wrong birthplace.
We have a original BC and affidavit from her parents about this mistake.
Will this be sufficient during the interview @ Mumbai or should we stay back because of this problem and wait for AOS.
Would really appreciate an early reply from you on this.
    Thanks & Regards

When's your interview? I suggest you call up Indian Consulate [based on which state do you live] and explain them the situation. They can make a correction on the passport based on the original certificate you have. Do not shown the school leaving certificate at the time of the interview.

My wife and son needed visa to enter India and indian consulate in Chicago [i live in Michigan] took care of them within few days.

      Hi Rockstar

Do you think this will be a problem if I don't get it corrected.
Should I not go for CP or what ??

      Thanks & Regards

I don't think anyone can categorically say that this will not be a problem.

        My advice?

        1. Talk to your attorney,
        2. Talk to the Indian embassy to see if they can effect the correction. They are normally very fast.
        3. Send an email to the Mumbai IV section ([email protected]). They are very prompt at responding.
        4. Get affidavits from her parents regarding her official date of birth.

The point to remember is that you are not committing any fraud - this is just a simple mistake that needs correcting - so treat it as such.

        Good luck.

DO NOT email mumbai on this issue as they may outright reject you. Trust me. As I said first talk to indian embassy and see what they say. post here.
