Question about I-140 from AOS to CP

Eventhough we sent an amendment requesting I-140 CP rather than AOS.My I-140 got approved by Nebraska for AOS. Is there any thing I can do to change this to CP like calling INS or something... I talked to my lawyer about the I-824 and he said "forget it, it takes more than 500 days" he also said we can file a new I-140 for CP and in the same time we file I-485... and if we get the I-140 approved soon we can apply at Montreal.
Please help!!!!

If your amendment was received before they actually approved, they should have done it. And in that case, you can ask INS within 1 month of I-140 approval to correct that.

If they received it after approval, you should follow your lawyer's advice.

I've sent the amendment by UPS and according to the UPS system, Nebraska must have recieved the amendment on Jul 7th where the approval was on Jul 24th.. According to your answer, I can contact them to change that, now my question is how to contact them (Writing or just a phone call).. Is it me or my lawyer ????
