  • Birth Certificate-Re Post

    Hi Immihelp

My wife's birth certificate does not have her mother's name on it but her passport does. I have tried to get that omission corrected but authorities in India are not cooperating saying that a record once established cannot be altered-come hell or high water. Her mother is visiting us here in the US right now and she will be here when we go to Mumbai for our CP interview next month. I have the following questions:

    1. Does her mother need to sign a affidavit ?

    2. If so , can it be done in the US ? Where at?

    3. If her mother does not have to sign it, can her elder brother do that in India? Does that heve to be done in the city of her birth or anyhere in India is fine?

    4. If we need two affidavits, can any other relative along with her brother sign it in India?

    Thanks for your help

      Re: birth-certificate

You should get 2 affidavits. It not need necesarily be from mother. Anyone old enough at the time of person's birth can do that affidavit.
