  • CP success in Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Friends,
First of all I must thank all Indian friends who shared their experience and the provider of this site for so much valuable information. It was really helpful for me to get the idea about CP and relater issues. Even I haven’t seen any Bangladeshi guy talking and sharing their information. But I feel it’s my time to share with them.
Recently, we are back from Dhaka, Bangladesh after successful CP, have got our passport stamped in Chicago and waiting for plastic in Dallas, TX (where we live).
Applied in TWC March ‘98 (Regular process), Labor Dec01, I140 Feb02, Consular office received paper from NVC 5/02, Interview 7/16.
Thank you guys again. God bless you.

    Hi,

Finally, it was nice to see " CP IN DHAKA" !. Thanks a lot for sharing your info. I have not been able to decide whether I should go for CP or AOS. Is there any way I could find out how long it would take to get an interview if I go for CP in Dhaka? My attorney is not helpful at all. He does not think CP is a good idea because of 9/11.But it seems like CP takes less time and like everybody I would like to minimize this long and cold journey as soon as possible.

      To get an interview

As you can see from my experience, it takes 3-4 months to get an interview, after I140 and you will get 4-5 weeks time to appear on interview. But If you haven't informed INS during I140 that you are going for CP it will take more time to send and process addendum for CP.
If you have nothing to worry about ( like out of status, some other things) CP is a sure shot. Before I decided for CP, I talked to lot of friends who had done CP succesfully. They had good experience about CP. But again, if you have any kind of fear, don't go for it. It's a lot of stress which will kill you. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response. If you don't mind , would you mind sharing what short of questions you were asked at the interview?

          CP questions

My case was different than any others. The consular asked me why I decided study, 12 yrs after my BS. Do I own a house or rent, When my co. offered me this permanent position, my yearly salary, do I have police clearance cetificates, why I didn't I come back after finishing my study.
What I heard from others that consular don't ask too many questions.

            Re: CP questions

            Hi Dallas02,

Congratulations !!! I believe that you were born in Bangladesh and live for a while in USA. But it seems that you have been asked to submit police certificates. Based on DSL-1083 document and FAM 9 42.63 Exhibit XI, Bangladesh is among those countries where Police Certificate not obtainable. This is the way they characterize in these documents. Could you please confirm that you submit Police Clearance Certificate for Bangladesh and USA.

            Appreciate for your response.

              more..........

Yes, You are right. I knew I don't need police certificates and I didn't collect it from BD before my interview. But I took for USA, 2 days before I left for interview. When they(consular) asked I metioned about DSL 1083 but she wanted to give me hard time. 1st day they didn't give me visa. I had to get police certificates from BD to get my Visa. It happened for lot of people I hard. They ( consular) don't care what DSL says. My lawyer was a moron and stupid. He never gets any feed back or collect information from his clients. If you are a lawyer , I think you better tell your clients not to take any risk.

                    I-140 approved

                    Hi,

My I-140 got approved about 2 weeks ago and I asked my attorney what we need to do next. He told me that we do not have to do anything now. State dept will send him papers then we will file. It did not make any sense to me. I left him messages to explain to me what we need to do next but have not heard from him. Could you tell me what happens after I-140 gets approved. Even after my I-140 got approved, he wanted me to go for AOS. He thinks since I am from Bangladesh, could face lots of trouble. I told him that I never had any problems with my school or work then where is the problem. He could not give me any concrete answer. I need to get my GC asap that's why I chose cp. Please let me know what I should do next. How could I find out where is my case now. Is there any way I could find out how long it takes in Dhaka to get an interview? Do I have call Dhaka to make an appointment for my medical if so how long I have to wait for the reports?

                    Thank You,
