Follow to Join CP

I obtained my Employment base GC through CP in 2000. My wife could not join me as she was on J1 at that time. She has finished her J1 waiver commitment and now we are ready for her CP. Throughout these years, we have been sending mails to consulate to keep her file active.

What do we do now ? Packet 3?
Is there something we need to worryabout or prepare better ?

You can't do following to join CP now. You will have to sponsor her green card on family based.

Hello,

I am in the same boat as yourself. I just got my citizenship and my wife finishes her J-1 Waiver in September of 2007. My lawyer gave me 2 options

1) File for I-130 and I-485 together at the local service center (cleveland) and she may be called for an interview between 3 to 6 months, and work permit within 90 days

2) File for I-130 and then go through Consular processing, in which case the wait time will be I-130 (9 months, depending on where you are), NVC another 6 months, travel to India etc..so total time to get greencard is close to 18 months


I had my wife in my Green card application 5 years ago and I did consular processing in Chennai. I dont think Chennai consulate can pull application 5 years old, yet we are trying our luck by sending an e-mail to them.
